PLUS, you can get your grub on at Rapper’s Delight. Here’s what I have on the menu for today:
Beat Swap Meet is where I made my public cooking debut. Last year Utmos hit me up about sidewalk cheffing it up during the Beat Swap Meet to feed the hungry diggers. I used to offer like 20 things on the menu but that became too complicated. This time around I narrowed down the choices and really put my foot in it. Here’s what I had on the menu for the day…

The weather was perfect and the day went off without a flaw. I was happy to sell out of everything but a dozen tamales, which I was able to share with friends after. Here are some flicks of the day

Meserak, Yassi, Dinah, Lastman (with Ol' Dirty Custard) & Junebugg

Raekwon Patty, 2Mex Tamale, Macavelli & Cheese with Cee-Lo Greens... all this for only $10! Guaranteed to please your tastebuds and fill your belly

I couldn't have done it without my girls! Dinah, Yassi and Meserak made the day a whole lot easier AND funner!

Dinah & Aaron, my life wouldn't be the same without them!

the menu for the day...

Doowutchalike & Dookie Rope

L. Scatterbrain and his lady

Yassi & Makah

671 LOVES them 2Mex Tamales and even gave me the Mexican Seal of Approval!

Dinah modeling the ever so tasty Ol' Dirty Custard

Jonas Lynch displayed his art and painted live

May, Makah & Aun( )ni

Renzo, Aum( )ni & Dinah

I saw this at the end of the day and TOTALLY want one so it can be my Rapper's Delight mobile
So because I was stuck at my booth all day, I didnt get to wander around and take pictures. The DJ in me was bummed about that. Check the Listen Recovery blog for more coverage by clicking the pic below:

LA has something really special going on once a month and I was lucky to be a part of it last Sunday. Once a month, record collectors from far and wide gather at a swapmeet… that only sells records! There were 30 booths jam packed with every genre of vinyl recordings you could dream of. Djs, producers and music heads in general unite and it feels like a musical family reunion. Outside, vendors sell hand crafted hip hop, reggae and other music related items. I was lucky to feed the masses that day and debut:
Rappers Delight: a Hip Hop Cafe
Here’s what I had on the menu…

All my girls came out to help serve up the grub and we all had a blast. I love them so much, we made a great team and I couldn’t have done it without them!

Abigail, Ethan, Lynn, Tiffany, Dustin & his son Zaire and more people showed up just to show love. Speaking of love… Omar Goodness, Prvt Peepshow & Scatterbrain loved the food

The day before, DInah’s mom came over and taught me how to make baklavah and it turned out so yummy!

Mr. Choc was so excited I named a drink after him that he took my menu display

I’m glad he liked the Hot Mr. Choc
At the end of the day, i was tired and done cooking for a few days.
