Despite opposition from the local populations and harsh criticism from Brazilian, Bolivian and Peruvian civil societies and the relevant environmental authorities, the company GDF Suez, partially owned by the French government, is heavily involved in the construction of the Jirau hydroelectric dam on the Madeira River. The mammoth Brazilian project will cause devastating problems: several thousand indigenous residents are expected be displaced, and large areas of the forest will be cleared. The river and the developed area will be poisoned with mercury. An increase of species loss of fish and of malaria cases are almost guaranteed. On top of all this, GDF Suez also violates Brazilian and international labor laws. Thanks to ruthless political lobbying, the energy giant has infringed on the current labor law and provided no minimal guarantees on social and environmental issues. Due to all this, GDF Suez has fueled political tensions are between the local peoples and the central government on the one hand, and between affected countries as well.

If you’ve been to my house, I’m sure you’ve noticed the coolest, most mellow cat around. She is small, I call her my midget cat and she is sweet as pie. Today I discovered a large wound & took her to the vet immediately. They took one look & said, “Oh, thats not good!” Now she is in surgery, hopefully they can clean her up and get her on the mend. Anywho, just wanted to ask my readers to pray or meditate for her recovery and for the recovery of my bank account

******UPDATE******

We are home from the vet & emergency, bank-draining surgery. The cat is alive & well, she’s alive but she hates her life right now. The collar she is wearing freaks her out so she’s been moonwalking backwards around the apartment. I don’t think she can eat or drink too well but she doesn’t want me to touch her or ever look at her for that matter. Lets hope the stitches come out soon so she can have her life back.

We Are NOT Amused!Long live the Queen… Mos Def salutes you!

The Swine Flu pandemic is just a bunch of hype!

The “normal” yearly flu kills between 40,000 and 220,000 people worldwide per year. The Swine Flu or H1N1 virus has killed only 3,900 worldwide and was declared a pandemic by the Worldwide Health Organization (WHO) at just 150 deaths. The mass hysteria created by the Pandemic announcement is causing people to rush out to get the flu vaccination this year. Have you watched the news? People are worried there wont be enough vaccine, and rushing to get theirs. This year is also the first time the flu vaccine has been recommended to be administered in 2 doses. That has never been done before with any flu vaccine.

If you are reading this, please be responsible with your words. Don’t add fuel to the hysteria that has been created by the “threat” of Swine Flu. It has a MUCH lower mortality rate than the common flu. If this hysteria is allowed to build, it is possible that legislation will be passed REQUIRING everyone to receive the flu vaccination to prevent infecting the entire population. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be forced to be injected with anything!

The following video is in Spanish AND its an hour long with subtitles in English. Please take the time, I feel its very important for any of my family, friends and the general population to hear this information and find out the facts. At very least it will be able to help you think objectively about this entire situation.

Like Alpha Beta used to say back in the day, TELLA FRIEND!
